Your question, 'Are Writers Responsible for How Readers Receive Our Words?' is indeed a complex one, and the answer is not straightforward. In theory, writers do bear a responsibility to present their content truthfully to the best of their ability. However, managing how readers perceive our words is a far more intricate matter, influenced by a multitude of subjective variables. What one person values, another may dismiss. I vividly recall a few years ago when I poured my heart and soul into a piece addressing a significant societal issue. It was a display of vulnerability and humility on my part. To my surprise, a reader left a comment likening my ideas to the unpleasant scent of an armpit. In that instance, I chose to express gratitude for the effort they took to comment, recognizing that their perception did not align with my intent. So, the crux of the matter is that, in this particular example, I could not successfully manage that reader's perception, and I did not feel solely responsible for it. The interplay between a writer's intent and a reader's interpretation is indeed a nuanced and intricate dynamic. I, personally, do not engage in emotional discussions with my readers, as it may seem like a time-consuming endeavor and could potentially impact our public image as writers, even when our intentions align with truth. However, I acknowledge that some readers and writers find it fulfilling as an intellectual pursuit, and I hold respect for their chosen approach.
