We have this dilemma in our publications too. Some writers appreciate improvement and they are grateful for free line editing service. A few don't like it as they want to keep their voice and style. I respect both choices. As you point out publications don't make any money and they are run by volunteer editors who donate their precious time. If writers keep this important perspective they would be more appreciative of pub services. Publications bring a new audience to work of writers. Thank you for sharing your experience and perspectives. Your story resonated well with me. I admire your support to writers to improve their work and gain more visibility. Kudos!
