Thank you for your inspiring feedback, Dr. Rice. I greatly admire your holistic approach to mental health, and your stories always provide me with unique insights. Yes, I studied these stressors in combination extensively, recording my results using biofeedback with various state-of-the-art tech devices. I am also part of a sensible biohacking community and analyze the results shared generously and transparently by others. You have inspired me to write a detailed story about it. At a high level, intermittent fasting and cold exposure make an excellent combination. Intense exercise and cold exposure are even better, as they significantly speed up recovery. However, fasting and intense exercise do not work well together. Mild exercise during fasting is beneficial, but intense exercise significantly reduced my performance. One theory is that fasting and intense exercise utilize the same pathways, overloading the system. When I checked biochemical markers during long-term fasting, such as after five days, they were equivalent to those seen with intense exercise. I suspect the culprit is cortisol, but there is not yet enough data to confirm this. My findings related to fitness were also similar to subjective feelings for mental health.
