I think this curation and distribution process need to be sorted out, be more objective, and transparent. As you mention, it is very confusing and not inspiring for writers. Coming from a tech background, I don't trust algorithms. A simple error can cause serious wront results as it is evident in our declined stats since early September. I don't believe 50% of readers disappeared in such a short time. It is most likely misprogrammed algorithm not distributing great stories properly.
