My humble tip to new writers is to read more than writing and meaningfully engage in other writers' content. My generic ratio is one to twenty, meaning I read at least twenty articles in a day before writing one. Giving without expecting is a good principle for writers to implement in their writing careers. So collaboration is essential.

For new writers, quantity matters as much as quality to create visibility. Some advice focus on quality only, but it is misleading. New writers need to learn by creating a lot to learn from their mistakes. Perfection causes analysis paralysis delaying progress. Some people even give up due to extreme stress to perfect their art.

Another critical point is not to compare oneself with others. We all have different capabilities. Related to this point, competition is harmful to writers. Collaboration can produce better results.

Some writers write for many, which is nothing wrong with it. However, writing for pleasure is more sustainable, and it can bring money in the long run.

From a monetary perspective, the best strategy is diversifying content on multiple platforms. We never know what will happen to a platform tomorrow. In addition, having our own platform and mailing list is critical for success.

I also recommend writers to join publication activities as each publication has a different audience. In addition, creating their own publication can be invaluable on Medium.

Finally, writers need to create viral stories to earn good money on Medium. Even though there is a huge luck factor to go viral, it is also possible to cause it by following some fundamental rules, especially on Medium. I posted several guiding articles analyzing viral stories in my publication.
