Hi Le Voir, this is an interesting and important question. I have no expertise in alcohol use for metabolism. However, I researched its effect on the brain over two decades ago and came across detrimental implications. Therefore I abstained from it. Nevertheless, from the literature review, moderate use of alcohol is mentioned to have some health benefits, at least less harmful than excessive use. In my understanding, alcohol is another carb but it is digested faster than other types of carbs. I also know that some friends in ketogenic diets use alcohol and vegetables as their only carbs source in the 5% carb macro allowable in traditional keto diets. I hope these points can give you some valuable perspectives. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to provide advice in my articles and comment therefore I always add disclaimers to my stories. Thank you for reading and engaging in my stories. I wish you the best in your health and fitness journey.

Here is a personal story of why I gave up alcohol. From my experience, giving up alcohol was easier than stopping smoking.
