Hi Carolyn, it is lovely to read your honoring, constructive, and insightful feedback. Your sharp observations are right, as I deliberately chose to change my style after Medium changed the algorithm recently. Scientific and technical posts do not get many eyeballs anymore, as hardly anyone engages in them. Without engagement, stories that we pour our hearts and souls get buried under dust, and not many have a chance to read them. Recently I surveyed my loyal subscribers. I learned that a majority preferred a more engaging and approachable format for my health and wellness content without delving into technical and scientific details that might overwhelm them. Going forward, I will link scientific pieces in new stories in the introduction section as I did for this post, giving options for different audiences and alternating between stories of each style, and letting my readers know up front which style of content they should expect to read. This way I won't waste their precious time. I am blessed to have created a large following, and within that are many types of readers. It is not possible to please all types of readers with a single style therefore I will diversify using multiple voices. I’m committed to ensuring a diverse range of valuable content in different styles each week for my varied audience. I also plan to bring all my subscribers to Substack and segment them into multiple groups to cater to their specific needs. Your ongoing support is invaluable and means a lot to me.
