In my experience, the biggest culprit was snacking and frequent meals.

I moved from traditional 3 meal 3 snacks, to 1 meal a day as shared in my experience in an article, attaching it to extend your topic as an alternative view.

This worked best for my weight plan and other health benefits. I found that controlling insulin can make real difference in maintaining a healthy weight.
