A quick clarification on this highlighted point as it is vital for readers. It used to be as you point out but it is not anymore.
I have been on both platform for long time and mentored many writers contributing to both NB and Medium. After recent changes on NB, the earning potential is much higher on Medium based on my experience and neutral observations. The difference is in fact in order of magnitude. For example, exactly same article I published on both platforms earned very different. The NB one earned 65 cents and Medium one earned over a $100. Ironically NB one had more reader exposure .
More disappointingly, my research based articles praised by discerning readers and distributed by Medium and even by external curators were not approved by NB with reasons that did not make any sense.
Even though I loved NB, referred many writers and readers, and posted over 300 articles, the recent changes discouraged me to invest more time on the platform.
I still keep open mind and give them a chance. I repurposed most of my curated articles from my personal publication https://medium.com/sensible-biohacking-transhumanism
I enjoyed your explanations for other useful points which make sense.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Kirsty. I wish you good luck in both platform. Diversification is a great strategy for freelance writers.
